North Carolina License Lookup

North Carolina Accountant License

You can become a CPA in NC after you get your accountant license. Begin the process by graduating from an accredited college or university with a concentration in accounting. You also need at least one year of work experience, which must be under the direct supervision of a CPA.

You can also meet the experience requirement by teaching accounting for four years or a combination of teaching and work. You can then take the Uniform CPA Exam. Upon passing, you will need to apply for your license through the North Carolina State Board of Certified Public Accountant Examiners.

North Carolina Business License

North Carolina does not issue general business licenses. However, you might need to get a state or local license when operating a company. The North Carolina Department of Commerce maintains a Business and Occupational License Database. Use the database to find out if your company needs a license. North Carolina Engineer License

You can begin down the path to becoming an engineer in NC by graduating from an ABET-accredited engineering program. You will then need to take and pass the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam. Follow that by gaining four years of work experience as an engineer. Then, you will be ready to take and pass the Professional Engineering exam. You can then apply for your license through the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.

North Carolina Insurance License

You have to take pre-licensing education before you can get to sell insurance in North Carolina. You must take 20 hours each in:

  • Life
  • Accident and health or sickness
  • Property
  • Casualty
  • Personal lines

You also need to take a 10-hour course in Medicare supplement/long-term care.

You can take these classes in a classroom or online or complete them via self-study.

After you finish your coursework, apply for your license on the National Insurance Producer Registry website.  You will then receive instructions to schedule your exam through Pearson VUE. Pass your exam and submit your fingerprints. Then, you will go back to the National Insurance Producer Registry website to finish your application.

North Carolina Medical License

If you want to practice medicine in North Carolina, you must first obtain your license. Begin by graduating from a board-approved medical school. You must complete at least one year of post-graduate training and take and pass the USMLE. The state allows people to attempt each step three times. You must then complete your Federation Credentials Verification Service application. Then, complete your licensing application and submit it to the North Carolina Medical Board.

North Carolina Nursing License

You must meet the education requirements before you can become a nurse in North Carolina. If you wish to become an LPN, you need to complete a Licensed Practical Nurse education program. You can start down the road to becoming an RN by completing a Registered Nurse education program.

Once you graduate from nursing school, you will need to take the NCLEX Practical Nurse or NCLEX Registered Nurse exam. You can take the exam as many times as needed to pass. You also must submit your fingerprints and pass a criminal background check after meeting the requirements. You can apply for your license through the North Carolina Board of Nursing.

North Carolina Real Estate Agent License

You need to be at least 18 years old to obtain a North Carolina real estate license. The state also requires that you complete the 75-hour Broker Pre-licensing Course. Upon completion, submit your application to the North Carolina Real Estate Commission. The commission will then review your application. If it determines that you’re qualified to move forward, you will receive a Notice of Examination Eligibility. Next, you will need to take the North Carolina Real Estate Broker License Examination. When you pass the exam, the commission will review your application to ensure you meet the character requirements. Then, you will receive your license.

North Carolina Teacher License

If you want to become a teacher in NC, you need to get an educator’s license. Begin by completing an approved educator preparation program. Then, you will be ready to take the Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators test. Then you will need to take the Praxis Subject Assessment test for your specialty area. You will also need to take the correct Pearson test for your subject area. You can then apply for your educator’s license through the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction online licensure system.
